What we do to remove what holds children back
An informal method of teaching
No school bag
Learning from what is happening, and from nature
Learning built around ideas, not around subjects
Continuous and holistic assessment
Assessment by capability
Diagnostic method
Remedial method
What does 'learning without burden' mean?
Only when a child is absorbed in play, free of the torment of homework, when their knowledge shines through holistic assessment and they stay bright in body and mind only then does truly meaningful learning come alive.
The child is always at play.
Learning alongside delight.
Free from tormenting homework.
Learning without homework.
Results arrived at through holistic assessment.
The true test of learning.
The child is bright in body and in mind.
A healthy, happy child.
What do we call 'an education that protects childhood'?
Only when a child is entirely free of fear, when childhood roams freely, when their capabilities open naturally, when they are raised in the company of nature and every moment becomes a joy only then can education truly be alive and meaningful.
The child is entirely free of fear
Where a child moves forward unafraid and self-assured.
The child's childhood roams freely
Where they learn while playing and grow independently.
The child's capabilities open naturally
Where talent is not pressed down but blossoms of its own accord.
The child is raised in the company of nature
Where, connected to their surroundings, a child learns life's real lessons.
Every moment of the child's day is a joy
Where each moment offers happiness, affection and something learned.
This is the school's creed…
An education that gives values, an education that builds character, an education aimed at self-study, an education that cultivates self-reliance
We believe true education becomes possible only when children experience learning not as a simplification of subjects but as an experience of living. Here, learning is bound up with drama, story, dialogue, the environment and experiments in living where learning becomes joyful, memorable and meaningful.
Experimental learning from the environment
A way of seeing develops, learning from the things all around.
What is experienced is easily remembered
Instructive activity settles permanently in a child's mind.
Inner strengths come into flower
The qualities inside a child are brought to light.
Character is formed alongside learning
Education becomes not only knowledge, but formation.
Art deepens understanding
Through art, a subject is understood in depth.
Original thinking develops
A child forms opinions of their own.
Life-oriented education
Our mission is to bring meaningful, useful education into every child's life.
We believe education is not the study of textbooks but the guidance that lets a child succeed at every stage of life. Through life-oriented education we develop in children moral values, self-confidence, life skills, and an understanding of what it means to be a responsible citizen.
That what children learn at school proves useful in their lives that is what our life-oriented education means.
Excursions: a living medium for learning by experience
An excursion is not merely a pleasant outing; for children it is an education in how to live. Going close to nature, observing history, culture and social conditions, children develop a wider view of the world. Stepping outside books, qualities like sensitivity, co-operation, a keen appetite for learning new things and self-confidence develop vividly. In this way a single excursion plays an important part in a child's whole development.
A relationship with society
An education that explains the true meaning of public life.
Meals at the right hours
Eating at the right time and in the right way matters enormously to a child's health. But in today's hurried life children often eat at irregular hours sometimes too early, sometimes far too late. Meals at the wrong hours upset their digestion and produce fatigue, listlessness and a lack of attention. Eating regularly and on time keeps not only the body but the child's mind energetic and well. Eating to a proper timetable is therefore essential to a child's physical and mental development.
Questions about living
From childhood, many questions arise in a child's mind Why am I here? What is my purpose? What does life mean? Such questions play an important part in shaping a child's future. In our school we do not treat book learning as sufficient; we also give the child self-knowledge, a way of weighing values, and a view of life. The school becomes the medium through which a child finds the encouragement to seek answers to life's deeper questions.
Teaching the foundations of subjects by an informal method
We believe true education should not be confined to the textbook. A child learns in earnest only when they experience the world around them. Our educational structure gives children a grounding in subjects through informal, experience-based and question-based methods. In this way, teaching comes alive beyond the book as well.
What would a school built on all these foundations look like?
To remove what obstructs a child's growth and give them the chance to fly in an open sky that is the purpose of life behind everything we do.
